This was a project that I had to build as part of my 'Interactive Media Design' degree course. Basically I had to collaborate with other students and come up with an idea for promoting soup.
There were four of us in the group and we all adopted and/or where assigned various jobs, I was responsible for the actual build of the project and had a good input into the actual design and certain design elements of the project.
We decided as a group that this project should be built using Joomla and as I had used the Warp Framework before I opted for using this again. The site was also mobile optimised.
This was a nice little project to work on, simple clean design, I carried out the build only on this project.
It was built as a brochure site for an Oriental Therapies specialist in Yorkshire, the main function of the site was the advertisement of the various therapies that this company offers, ranging from 'Aromatherapy Massage' to the more exotic therapies such as 'Reiki'.
They also wanted to advertise the fact that they offer various packages and wanted to make the prices available to potential clients up front.
This is for a site design only, basically this was designed by myself for a competition run by 99 designs.
'Ponderosa Land Development Company' is a real estate company in the USA, and they staged a competition with the 99 designs website for a complete new website design and build, this was my entry.
This is another piece from my 'Interactive Media Design' degree portfolio.
For this project I had to figure out a way of associating a number of poems with images, making the poem visual as well as literal. I decide to go one step further and make one of my poems visual, literal and verbal.
I quickly decide on a steam punk style design and got to work designing it using Photoshop, I then proceeded to build it as a custom FLV viewer using Flash, I had originally wanted to incorporate a little JavaScript into the project, but decided against it and built it all using Flash and AS3.
This was a redesign for an existing customer.
They wanted a site that would be easy to update on a regular basis by them, the only other stipulation they had was it had to be mobile friendly.
I designed and built this site from start to finish using Photoshop and Dreamweaver (initially), I then opted to build this in Joomla using the Warp Framework and it started to take shape and slight elements where changed I have recently adopted the 'In Browser Designing' way of thinking as quite often a site will look excellent in Photoshop but doesn't always translate to the browser that well.
This is a build only project for a chap called Stefan who is 'The Tall Toastmaster'.
It is a single page site, built on simple jQuery anchor scrolling techniques and HTML/CSS. A brochure site, meant to draw people to 'The Tall Toastmaster' and his unique service. You can also catch up with him on Twitter and Facebook.
The site was designed really well which ultimately makes it easier to build, it has a basic black and white alternate theme with the odd splash of colour to highlight different elements.
This is a build only project for a chap called John Hyde who is the 'One Life Personal Trainer'.
This is a single page site design, using the simple jQuery anchor scrolling technique along with HTML/CSS, its purpose is to draw people to the site and get them to sign up for classes, you can also follow 'One Life' on Facebook.
This project was a redesign and build of a Youth Football Club Team website.
Knaresborough Celtic are based in Yorkshire and are a Youth Football club with excellent facilities, they asked me to redesign and build their site and to make it easy for the team managers to update their own pages and content.
Design using Photoshop and build initially using Dreamweaver, I opted for Wordpress as the engine for this one, it made sense to use Wordpress for its easy features and abundance of plug-ins.
This project was a build only project.
Built to promote the services and products for this then new start up business, 'Scan My Returns' is a Data Capture and Forms Capture Service based in the UK.
The main purpose of the site is to inform the public and existing clients of the services provided by the company and to promote any new services that they may want to introduce.
Built using HTML and CSS and a little bit of JavaScript.
Another piece of work from my 'Interactive Media Design' degree portfolio.
Here I was asked to scope out, manage the project, promote, design and develop a website for a photography community, this was a really nice project to work on.
After designing the logo and concept for the site, I proceeded to the build phase, again I decide to use Joomla and the Warp Framework for its ease of use and mobile optimization. I adopted the 'In Browser Designing' way of working here and although most if not all of my elements from my original PSD made it into the build, there are little flourishes that there were added once I got it into the browser, it's these little things that I think makes the site work well.
